While there are always new techniques and strategies coming out to help all of us build our organizations and positively impact people, there are certain success principles that never change. In today’s world, with things moving at breakneck speed, you have many ideas, strategies and opinions smacking you in the face (not to mention your email inbox!) every single day. What information should you pay attention to that will ultimately get you where you want to go: the creation of a huge MLM downline, which provides you and your family with a passive income stream.

Network Marketing Tips: Stay Focused

In light of information overload, it’s important that you become laser focused on why you joined your network marketing company to begin with. There is one success “secret” ultra-successful people adhere to that the average person never seems to grasp: pick one business to build and stay with that business until that business is built!

It’s amazing to me when I go on Facebook or read the emails I get where a person is promoting 8 thousand businesses at once. Their message to me is something like, “Hey, join me in this new pre-launch and become a millionaire by tonight…but if you don’t want to join me in that, you can join me in one of these other 15 cool, shiny businesses I’m making a ton in!”

Let’s stop right there and look at this. When you have a family, a job, etc and you’re getting your MLM business off the ground, how can you focus on building a real business if your mind is fragmented because you join every new business someone presents you with?

First of all, you can’t give your downline the attention they need if you’re trying to build 5 businesses at the same time. To me, this type of activity is built around fear and greed. Fear that you’re missing out on that next “big thing”. Greed because you think if you throw 10 things against the wall, then magically one of them will “just work” and you’ll be rich quick.

To me, it makes me wonder why the person promoting 10 things isn’t laser focused on their original network marketing business. Do they really believe in it? Or, are they simply money hungry and trying to “get rich” at all costs? If you’re main MLM opp is that fantastic, why are you trying to get me into these other 9 “deals”?

My encouragement to you is if you’ve been doing this, you may want to reconsider and go back to basics. Go back to why you joined your primary MLM business and ask yourself if it’s truly something you’re passionate about.

If so, get rid of all that other stuff and FOCUS on taking all the network marketing tips you come across and applying them to your ONE opportunity until you’re successful with that ONE opportunity.

Before I move on, consider this: people like Bill Gates (Microsoft), Ray Kroc (McDonalds), Steven Ells (Chipotle), and anyone else who is very successful focused on one thing until it became successful. Then, they may have diversified into other things. Many times, they diversified by putting money into another deal that someone else was laser focused on building to success until that success was realized.

Successful people don’t “try” 10 things to see what sticks. They focus, focus, focus on that one dream business until it’s up and running. That’s a timeless success principle. How can you think you’ll break this principle and achieve success? Why don’t you focus on your MLM business until it’s thriving?

OK, now that we have you focused on why you got into the network marketing industry to begin with, it’s time to start achieving the success you want. Did you know that offline strategies for MLM’ers are still alive and well? Yep, it still works to actually go out and meet people face-to-face :-)

If you’re not doing this, you’re missing the boat big time. Here are some network marketing tips you can use to meet people locally:

  • Attend Meetup.com meetings and network with other businesspeople
  • Call real estate agents from signs you see in yards & ask if they’re open to new opportunities
  • Put up a contest box in local restaurants, give away a free meal and prospect every applicant
  • Finally put together your warm market list and actually do something with it

You’re probably saying, “Finally, Matt’s getting to the Internet!”. Yes, I absolutely love using the Internet to prospect, but don’t ignore the first two network marketing tips above. With that said, you definitely want to learn how to use all the various online techniques that will build your presence on the Internet.

You’ll want to use an effective network marketing system that teaches you which online strategies to use and also provides you with all the various tools needed to take advantage of those strategies. Lead generation is key online and you need a system that helps you with this.

Once you’re using your MLM system, be sure you’re implementing proper promotion techniques. Use everything at your disposal, such as article marketing, videos, social media, etc. However, focus on one to begin with. Get good at it. Create your own systems for effectively and efficiently implementing it. Then, and only then, build out the next lead generation technique and repeat the process.
